This is the heartwarming moment a kind local fed stray puppies abandoned by their mum in a sewer pipe.

Footage shows the animal lover placing a bowl of dog food for the four squealing puppies, which were found hiding in the pipe at the Sattahip Naval Base in Chonburi province, Thailand, on March 13.

The mutts were said to have been left by their mum and were unable to find food for themselves.

Concerned residents appealed to Good Samaritans to adopt the litter before they wander onto a nearby road or are attacked by snakes.

Passing resident Nuttapumin later took the animals into his home. He said he will look after them until permanent homes are found for all of them.

'I couldn't leave them outside,' he said.

'I'll look after them until I know they're safe but they'll probably stay with me.'
