Huge ash plume eruption in Russia as Kamchatka's Shiveluch volcano blasts 20 kilometers high
On the morning of April 11, a powerful eruption of the Shiveluch volcano occurred on the Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. The director of the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology of the Far East Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Alexey Ozerov, reported that the height of the ash cloud reached 15-20 kilometers. The eruption of Shiveluch on April 11 reached a paroxysmal stage, according to Ozerov.
Due to poor weather conditions, video surveillance of the volcano has been difficult, with ongoing cyclone activity, snow, and blizzards. However, according to calculations, the height of the ash cloud reached 15-20 kilometers," Ozerov stated. At 5:44 a.m.(GMT +12), the volcano's activity peaked, and a red aviation warning was assigned to it.
