China launches first-ever suspended monorail for futuristic urban transport
China's first suspended monorail "Guanggu Guangzi" took its inaugural journey through the city of Wuhan.
Video filmed on May 11, shows the suspended monorail "Guanggu Guangzi" having its first test run.
The suspended monorail, also known as a "single rail", features a train suspended below a single rail, bringing traffic off the ground and into the air.
It is a three-dimensional form of transportation, with independent traffic rights, unaffected by other ground traffic or pedestrians.
The monorail system is environmentally friendly, low carbon and low capacity, making it a popular new form of urban transportation.
It is suitable for special weather conditions such as rain and snow, and operates 24/7. Passengers can enjoy a great view of the city's landscapes from within the train.
The monorail line is designed by China Railway Siyuan Survey and Design Group and is currently in the integrated commissioning and trial operation phase.
The line is approximately 26.7 kilometres long, with 16 stations and one vehicle depot and one parking lot.
