Overweight 20lb cat survives plummeting through car windscreen from 90ft
An overweight cat weighing 20lbs miraculously survived smashing through a car windscreen after falling 90ft from a condominium window in Thailand.
Shi Fu the pet feline had been walking along its owner's balcony when it slipped and plunged from the sixth floor of a building in Bangkok on May 27.
CCTV cameras captured the hapless animal free-falling next to windows before crashing into the rear windscreen of the red MG vehicle in the car park.
Car owner Apiwat Toyothaka said condo staff had called to inform him that a cat had fallen onto his car. When he went to the scene, however, he was shocked to find the automobile's windshield shattered.
Shifu's owner was also at the scene crying as she cradled the injured pet in her arms. She said she forgot to close the balcony door, causing the cat to wander off.
Shifu was rushed to the veterinarian and was found to have several bruises, two broken claws, and a swollen nose from crashing into the glass. It did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
The cat's owner was fined 1,000 THB (28 USD) since pets were not allowed in the condominium.
Monruthai Klinsuk, a co-owner of the vehicle, told local media: 'The cat has now been relocated away from the owner's residence. So please don't say anything negative about her. It's hard to care for cats and everything happened by accident.
'The cat owner has learned her lesson and is trying to help her pet lose weight.'
Apiwat, who admitted to being a cat lover himself, said he has called their insurance provider to claim money to repair their car.
