One person was killed as a dragon boat capsized during a training session in southern China.

The video was filmed in the city of Jieyang in Guangdong Province on June 22.

The incident resulted in 35 individuals plunging into the water, and 34 of them were successfully saved from the treacherous waters. However, one person remains missing, casting a sombre shadow over the ongoing search and rescue mission.

Tragically, among those rescued, three individuals sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Regrettably, one of them has shown no signs of life, while the remaining two are currently stable and not in life-threatening condition.

Preliminary investigations have shed some light on the cause of the accident, revealing that the capsizing occurred due to water entering one side of the boat's compartment while making a turn. The imbalance led to the tragic overturning of the dragon boat.

Authorities are actively engaged in the aftermath and further investigations to prevent such incidents from recurring.

2023年6月22日8时10分左右，广东揭阳，登岗镇登岗村宅下经合社2艘龙舟在村中漓溪进行训练，其中一艘发生侧翻，造成35人落水。经全力救援，34人被救起，1人失踪；救起人员中有3名伤者紧急送医救治，其中1人失去生命体征，2人没有生命危险。

事故发生后，榕城区委、区政府主要领导第一时间作出批示，区、镇领导立即赶赴现场组织救援救治等善后工作。经全力搜救，当天17时10分，找到失踪者的遗体。

初步调查，事故原因是该龙舟在转弯时船舱一侧进水，龙舟失衡侧翻。目前，相关善后工作正在进行中。
