Rostov-on-Don, Russia - On the morning of June 24rd, 2023 the headquarters of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don found itself cordoned off by military equipment. Startling footage published on social media captured people in camouflage alongside tanks, their barrels ominously directed towards the district's headquarters. The video revealed that not only the military district's headquarters but also the head office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service, and the city administration were all subjected to the cordon.

Earlier circulating videos on social media showcased a diverse array of equipment entering the city, some of which appeared unrelated to the Russian Armed Forces. Intriguingly, despite the presence of the military and the high-stakes situation, the civilian population seemed relatively unperturbed.
