This is the dramatic moment a pet cat rescued from a python's crushing grip was revived with CPR by its owners.

The hapless calico was lying motionless with its mouth agape when it was freed from the serpent that had ambushed it at its home in Bangkok on June 14.

Footage shows how its owners massaged the still-breathing feline until it twitched back to consciousness. The moggie was then carried back inside the house.

Fur mum Siriwan Chatadate said: 'There are a lot of trees around the house where pythons and other snakes can hide. I'm glad the cat is safe. I will be keeping a closer eye on her so she isn't attacked again.'

Pythons like the one that attacked the cat are found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
