This is the heart-stopping moment a quick-thinking worker climbed into a driverless lorry to pull the handbrake as it rolled back.

The men were preparing to load beer crates into the green four-wheeler when the incident happened in Southern Leyte province, the Philippines, on June 15.

Suddenly, the vehicle began moving backwards, prompting two of the colleagues to jump down to put a wedge under the wheel.

But that failed to stop the out-of-control truck so the cargo handler leapt through the door and flung himself into the driver's seat on the left hand side so he could press the foot brake.

He then calmly drove the lorry back to its parking spot in front of the store.

Resident Charm Luego captured the Hollywood-style car incident on his CCTV cameras. He said: ‘Respe3ct to the driver. He was able to save the truck from having an accident.

'It could have rolled into a building and hurt someone if it wasn't for his bravery and speed. It reminded me of a movie stunt man. Incredible.'

While the lorry almost crashed into parked cars, no one was hurt or damaged by the incident because of the worker.

Charm added: ‘Accidents can happen anytime and anywhere. Nobody expected to truck to roll back, so we should always stay vigilant.'
