This is the disastrous moment a water tanker truck toppled over while trying to undertake on a road in India.

The dangerous driver was caught on dashcam trying to pass the vehicle in front by cutting through on the outside lane.

But the worker lost control of the tanker and spun across the road while travelling at high speed.

Footage shows the vehicle kicking up a cloud of dust before overturning and crashing on the Gunjur Main Road in Varthur, Karnataka state, on April 14.

The driver, Mahalingappa, and his assistant, Kumar, both clambered from the wreckage relatively unscathed.

Police arrived and questioned them before taking blood samples to test for alcohol and drugs.

Neither of them was under the influence, but officers are pursuing the pair for reckless driving.
