A brave protester risked prison by wearing an infamous crop top outfit mocking Thailand's heavily protected king.

The demonstrator, attending a rally over the country's recent sham election, wore a female's red top and badly-fitting skinny jeans exposing the top of his bottom.

It mimics the bizarre outfit King Maha Vajiralongkorn wore - along with stick-on tattoos - while strutting around a shopping mall with one of his many mistresses in Germany in 2017.

Protesters have previously been jailed - or forced to flee the country in fear of their life - under the benighted Lese Majesty law for mocking the often outlandish outfits worn by members of the Royal Family, which is the richest in the world.

The sartorial stunt came as protesters vented their fury over the sham election 'stolen by the Thai military' following Move Forward Party leader poll winner Pita Limjaroenrat's failed bid to be elected Thai prime minister.

Pro-democracy group The United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration protested at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre in Bangkok to voice their outrage over the parliament vote results.

Harvard University graduate Pita on Thursday needed at least 376 votes out of 500 MPs and 250 senators to become the next prime minister.

He received just 324 votes - from his own party and coalition partners controlled by former Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra. There were 182 votes against him and 199 abstentions.

The protesters urged the military-controlled senators to 'honour the will of the people and uphold democracy' by selecting Pita as prime minister.

They slammed the MPs and senators who abstained, calling them 'spineless'.
