In the wake of the devastating hill slide tragedy that struck Maharashtra's Raigad on July 19, officials announced on Sunday that the multi-agency search and rescue operations have been terminated, with any remaining hope of locating survivors ruled out. The decision to halt the operation was reached after extensive consultations among various agencies, the Raigad district administration, and local villagers.

Over the last four days, rescue teams have retrieved a total of 27 bodies from the debris of the Irshalwadi village. Tragically, another 57 villagers are still unaccounted for and presumed dead after their homes were obliterated by the landslide on the slopes of the Irshalgad hills.

The catastrophe was triggered by torrential rains that resulted in a devastating crash of massive boulders and sludge, engulfing the village around 11.30 p.m. on July 19. Despite relentless efforts by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and sniffer dog squads, hopes of finding more survivors amid the wreckage have been shattered.

The heart-wrenching loss of lives and destruction in Irshalwadi serves as a stark reminder of the region's vulnerability to nature's fury and has left the community grappling with profound grief and anguish.
