Gas pipeline explosion kills two in northwest China

A large fire, believed to be caused by a ruptured gas pipeline, broke out in a Chinese street, leaving two dead and two injured.

At 10:13 on July 29, a fiery explosion occurred in the shops along the Golden Sunshine Community, Hongqi Street, Anping County, Hengshui, Hebei, and the fire was extinguished at 11:20.

Preliminary investigation indicated the cause was a natural gas pipeline bursting during repair work by a water pipeline company.

At present, the accident has caused two deaths and two serious injuries, which have been sent to the hospital for full treatment. Five persons have been arrested by local authorities, and the case is under investigation.
