STORYLINE:

Pakistan's state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) has launched the South Asian country's first-ever Chinese news service to further promote friendly relations between Pakistan and China.

The newly launched service would publish international, domestic and China-related news in the Chinese language, editors at the China News Desk told Xinhua Thursday.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): FURQAN RAO, Senior diplomatic correspondent of Chinese news service at APP
"We are making short videos, short stories about China's education system, China's culture, and how China helped, during the COVID-19, Pakistan, and how Pakistani businessmen can communicate with the Chinese people and Chinese businessmen can communicate. This service will be the bridge between both of the peoples."

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): FURQAN RAO, Senior diplomatic correspondent of Chinese news service at APP
"This new service is also working to counter the fake propaganda against the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). So, if there is any negative thing which is not based on the facts, we are giving rebuttal of those, not only in the Chinese language, but in English or Urdu and regional languages, because we have the Balochi language, we have Pashto language, we have the Arabic language. So this is basically a multinational linguistic news organization."

Launched in 2013, CPEC, a flagship project of the China-proposed BRI, is a corridor linking the Gwadar port in southwestern Pakistan with Kashgar in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which highlights energy, transport and industrial cooperation.
