A motorist had a lucky escape after he found himself in the middle of a tornado.

Endy Balivet was on his way to an interview in the Swiss town of Chaux-de-Fonds when the sky suddenly darkened and high winds began blowing.

Endy, 30, first thought he'd been caught in a thunderstorm but when his car windows shattered, he understood what was going on.

The rare tornado pelted his car with rocks and concrete, shattering his windows and tearing off panels from the front.

A concrete block destroyed a rear door before becoming stuck in the window frame.

Endy, an undertaker from the French border town Morteau, said: "The weather was fine. It was a beautiful day. "

"People were jogging quietly and all of a sudden everything went dark."

"Then I felt my car move in all directions. I first thought of a thunderstorm or a hailstorm because I could hear a lot of impacts on my car."

"When the windows broke and I saw the rocks I understood that it was not a storm but rather something more like a twister."

Endy suffered minor injuries after he was hit by shards of glass and small pebbles that were whipped up by the storm

He said : "It was fast and violent."

"Everything calmed down as suddenly as it appeared. I realized I was still alive in a split second. I had just passed through a twister."

"I took my phone out of my pocket, turned on the camera and got out of the car. As I film, I realize that I am alive."

"I was very lucky that day. Hence my euphoria on the video. I was injured all over the right side of my body because of the shards of glass and pebbles that hit me."

"I was really scared. I thought I was dying. It was very impressive."

In the video, Endy can be heard screaming in disbelief: "It's incredible, my life!"

It's incredible, my life!" "

The video also shows a clock factory, which was flattened by the tornado.

The rare tornado which swept through the town of Chaux-de-Fonds on July 24 injured 15 and killed one person.

Endy added: "Several people were injured that day and unfortunately there was a death."

"Material damages were also numerous. As evidenced by the clock factory in my video."

"My car is totally destroyed. The worst, I think, is the cinder block in the window. I was incredibly lucky!"

"In the city center, many buildings are destroyed. The bell tower of a church fell. Trucks turned over, a crane fell, and many cars were destroyed."

"My videos are proof of the violence of this twister. We do not expect it, especially not in France."
