Thousands of festivalgoers descended on Newquay, UK, as Boardmasters gets underway on August 9.

Footage shows rows of hundreds of tents set up as attendees set up camp for the festival which includes a combination of live music, surfing, and skateboarding.

Around 53,000 will be attending to see acts such as Lorde, Florence and the Machine, Dermot Kennedy, and Liam Gallagher.

The board masters 2023 music, skate, and surfing festival is perched in a temporary city atop the cliffs at Watergate Bay and stretching way into surrounding farmland. Held over two venues with the surfing at Fistral beach. 53,000 visitors are arriving. Tickets are sold out apart from day only access on Friday. large parts of the town of Newquay are closed to traffic as a huge operation is under way to bus arrivals from coach stations and railway terminals to the huge site. Mixed weather messages are being received for the duration of the event. Headliners include Lorde, Florence and the Machine, Dermot Kennedy, Liam Gallagher, Ben Howard, Rudimental, For Tet and Sofi Tucker. As in previous years local residents have found themselves stuck in mega traffic jams as the festival coincides with peak school holiday tourism. The Organisers donate significant amounts of money each year to local charities and good causes.
