STORYLINE:
 
The United World Wrestling (UWW) U20 World Championships 2023 kicked off in Amman of Jordan on Monday.

More than 1,000 global wrestlers will compete on the mats for world titles in various weights of freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women wrestling. 
The seven-day championship was originally scheduled to be held in Warsaw of Poland. UWW President Nenad Lalovic expressed his satisfaction with the preparation for hosting the championship in Jordan with such short notice.

"The preparation goes very well. The competition has already started. I don't see any, I don't have any remarks about something which went wrong. That didn't happen and I am sure it won't happen."

Mohammad Al-Awamleh, president of the Jordan Wrestling Federation, said that the federation along with the Jordan Olympic Committee and other related entities worked hard to achieve the required demands to host the world championship.

"Jordan's hosting of this tournament 21 days before its start is a great challenge, as other countries prepare for it for three or four years before. Our professional staff achieved what is required and we are ready. We hope to be able to raise the standards of the international championships as we achieved in the continental championship."
