Outrage in Chinese park as fitness enthusiasts swing from trees
A bizarre video captured on May 20 in Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, has sparked outrage among netizens. The footage shows a group of elderly fitness buffs taking their morning exercise to an extreme by grabbing and violently shaking the branches of park trees.
Concerned onlookers fear this new 'workout' might eventually cause the tree branches to snap. As if the scene wasn't alarming enough, comments flood Douyin, the Chinese counterpart of TikTok.
One netizen fired, "This type of behaviour should be in primary school textbooks as a cautionary tale. Even at fifty, some insist on setting such a poor example for our children."
The video was provided by local media with permission.
