Under the National Health Mission, the 38th Eye Donation Fortnight has started from August 25, with the aim of reducing blindness in the country, by the Health Department. This eye donation fortnight will be celebrated till September 8. During this fortnight, people are being made aware about eye donation by doctors, medical staff of government hospitals and social workers associated with social organizations.Ophthalmologist Dr. Kavita Goyal told that under the National Health Mission, the health department has started eye donation fortnight with the aim of reducing blindness in the country, which will continue till 8th September. He said that people are being made aware about eye donation by the doctors and other medical staff of the health department and interested persons are being registered by filling the form. Identity card is provided to the person who has taken the pledge of eye donation after registration.Shiv Shankar Pahwa, general secretary of Kaithal's social service organization Seva Sangh, said that in fact eye donation is a great donation. He said that Kaithal's social organization Sewa Sangh had started eye donation scheme many years back and some time back, the Chief Minister of Haryana had accorded eye bank status to Sewa Sangh in view of the good work done by Sewa Sangh in the field of eye donation, Mr. Pahwa said. Told that till now about 400 people have been donated eyes by Seva Sangh, due to which about 800 people have been given eyesight.Dr. Aditya Goyal, a doctor at the government hospital, also said that more and more people are being made aware of eye donation during the fortnight being celebrated by the government.
Kaithal Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Vikas Dhawan said that the health department is celebrating eye donation fortnight from August 25 to September 8 under the National Health Mission by the government to reduce blindness in the country. For which more and more people will be made aware about eye donation by the health department.
