STORYLINE:

The upcoming 4th China-Mongolia Expo will greatly contribute to the growth of bilateral trade and economic ties between the two neighbors, Mongolian minister of food, agriculture and light industry Khayangaa Bolorchuluun has said.

The China-Mongolia Expo, an important platform for promoting economic and trade ties between the two neighbors, is scheduled to take place in Hohhot, capital city of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, from Sept. 6 to 10.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Mongolian): KHAYANGAA BOLORCHULUUN, Mongolian minister of food, agriculture and light industry
"Our two countries agreed to hold this expo every two years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has not been held since 2019. Compared to the previous three expos, the 4th expo is expected to be held on a large scale, and expectations are high about the expo."

At least 500 companies from Mongolia are expected to participate in the forthcoming expo.

In the previous three expos, most of the exhibitors of Mongolia were light industry companies, but this time more food manufacturers will participate, the minister said.

"Mongolia aims to export organic food products such as meat, camel milk drinks, and sea buckthorn to China. Therefore, many food manufacturers are going to participate in this expo," he said.

Mongolia and China achieved a 10-billion-U.S.-dollar target for bilateral trade in 2021, Bolorchuluun said, adding that now, the two neighbors are actively cooperating to increase the volume of bilateral trade to 20 billion U.S. dollars.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Mongolian): KHAYANGAA BOLORCHULUUN, Mongolian minister of food, agriculture and light industry
"Preparations for the expo are generally complete. We have such expectations and estimates that by holding the 4th China-Mongolia Expo, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries will increase significantly."

Mongolia's foreign trade turnover expanded 27.9 percent year on year to 11.8 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of this year, according to the country's National Statistics Office.
