A bedridden cancer patient married his gay partner of 13 years in an emotional wedding ceremony in Thailand.

Tik, 31, began dating his lover Tiew after they met through an online video game back in 2010.

The pair have since been living together at a house in Nakhon Pathom province, 35 miles from the capital Bangkok.

However, tragedy struck when Tik was diagnosed with colon cancer two years ago. He received chemotherapy, but the sessions had severely damaged his kidneys and left him unable to receive further treatment.

Realising their time together was growing short, Tik told Tiew that he wanted to be married as his final wish.

Tiew gladly obliged, and the lovers were wed at their house on September 7, in an intimate ceremony attended by family, friends, and the kind nurses who had looked after Tik during his hospital stays.

Heartwarming footage shows Tik lying in bed wearing a lovely white gown with a smile plastered on his face as he was surrounded by his loved ones.

The pair exchanged vows in a wedding officiated by a Buddhist monk. The reception was held shortly after at the couple's house.

Tiew said: 'This was the happiest, and saddest, day of my life, all combined in one. I love Tik a lot and want to be with him forever.'

Speaking to local media, Tiew detailed Tik's long battle with the deadly disease.

He said doctors had initially diagnosed Tik with hemorrhoids and had prescribed medications to treat them. However, his symptoms grew worse and they had to get a second opinion from another doctor.

Medical scans revealed that a tumour was growing in Tik's large intestine. The mass appeared to have dissolved with the first phase of the treatment, but recurred in force two months later.

Tiew said Tik had suffered from abscesses and had eventually grown weaker, having to travel regularly to Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok 35 miles away.

During Tik's eighth chemotherapy session, the couple received grim news that the cancer had metastasized and more aggressive treatment was needed.

On September 4, Tik was hospitalised for anemia. Due to his cocktail of medications in his bloodstream, he was found to be suffering kidney failure and needed dialysis if he wanted to prolong his life.

Tiew said: 'Tik decided not to be treated. He said he was tired and has had enough. The doctor said he only had a few days to live.'

The grieving widower said: 'We dreamed of getting married and buying a house together. We couldn't afford a new house, so we decided to make the first one come true.'
