STORYLINE:

Xinhua Institute, the think tank of Xinhua News Agency, on Tuesday released a report at the high-level meeting on Global Development Initiative (GDI) Cooperation Outcomes hosted by China at the UN headquarters.
   
The report, titled "The Practical Achievements and Global Contributions of the Global Development Initiative," expounds on the core concepts, principles, and universal meanings of the GDI.

It highlights the global contributions of GDI through more than 30 cases of international cooperation projects, and provides a comprehensive review and analysis of the achievements of GDI cooperation over the past two years.

The report has won applause from experts and officials.

"The first impression one gets from reading the report is that this is the first time one has seen an integration of the various policies of international nature, each one in its own right has had significance. So, the organizational structure of it, the integration of the various topics, were all important points. What I also liked, was the specificity of specific issues within each topic. It was much more than generalizations that sometimes we've seen in the past. It's a full flourishing of the integrated both theoretical and practical application of each of these policies."

"I think the best thing that I have learned from this is very concrete examples of the achievements of the Global Development Initiative, benefiting the livelihoods of people around the world. From building practical houses in Mongolia, to supporting school feeding in Nepal and Cambodia, to bamboo for plastics in African countries, and also to the COVID vaccine support to refugees from Palestine... this is the comprehensiveness of the Global Development Initiative. Not only those practical experiences will inspire more countries and partners to do more for Sustainable Development Goals, but also the concept of GDI, the way it operates, being a very open, inclusive new model for development cooperation, including South-South, triangular cooperation, global partnership. It's really very much needed in today's world."
