Gadget fanatic uses remote control car to feed hungry stray dogs afraid of humans
A gadget fanatic who loves animals uses a remote-controlled car with a camera to feed hungry stray dogs.
Michelle Van Andal said the animals were often scared of people so she thought of using a toy car that she can operate from a distance to serve food to them in Cavite province, the Philippines.
Footage shows the small vehicle with a paper tray filled with kibble approaching a hungry Aspin pooch which gladly finished the meal without much coaxing on the edge of the road.
Michelle said she takes part-time jobs and uses some of her salary to buy more dog food and upgrade the RC toy to optimise her DIY canine dinner deliveries.
The animal lover has now turned her hobby into a passion, helping to care for the skinny pooches that struggle to find food in the poverty-addled developing country.
Michelle said: ‘I had pet dogs that died when I was younger because I didn't have money to take to the vet. This is my motivation. That's why I try to help stray animals now as much as I can.'
The non-government organisation Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) estimates that there are more than 12 million stray dogs in the country, made worse by irresponsible pet ownership, lack of education about animal welfare, and poverty, as people can not afford to spay or neuter their pets.
