"We go ahead and search about new markets, new opportunities. China as a market is growing at an average rate of 20 percent per year (in coffee consumption), which makes actually the market the most exciting."
According to Frandan Tumukunde, a sales executive at Star Cafe, although his company will exhibit at the CIIE for the first time, he's optimistic that it will connect with more young Chinese who are open to try the premium coffee products from Uganda.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): FRANDAN TUMUKUNDE, Sales executive at Star Cafe, Uganda
"I think these expos are quite open. And I believe any Ugandan SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) or any African SME should come. China as a market is really huge, with a 1.4 billion population. That's quite a huge number. And also having more young rich Chinese, it's good for our products to enter the markets."
The 6th CIIE, slated to be held offline in Shanghai from Nov. 5 to 10 this year, is expected to attract guests from 154 countries, regions and international organizations.
