Adorable footage shows two leopard cubs tussling in the dirt just metres in front of a filmer in the Kruger National Park.

The video captured on October 30 shows the cubs walking behind their mother before descending into a playful fight.

The filmer told Newsflare: "It was early morning when I heard the alarm calling of vervet monkeys and impala antelope in front of our safari camp. Immediately I knew that there was the possibility of a predator lurking around close to camp as the alarm calling from the prey animals did not stop.

"Whenever a dangerous predator is spotted by monkeys and impala antelope, they go absolutely crazy and make a big noise. I decided to go and investigate the situation and got into my safari vehicle.

"After searching the area around the camp, I couldn’t find anything. The alarm calling persisted. The monkeys and impala antelope clearly saw something I couldn’t.

"After about forty minutes, I was about to give up my search when I caught a glimpse of a leopard jumping out of a tree, running down into the dry riverbed in front of camp. I had to work my vehicle through difficult terrain to get to the riverbed.

"Once I made it through the thick bush to the riverbed, I was totally stunned by what I found. There she was, a beautiful leopardess. Then suddenly two of the most adorable leopard cubs appeared from the riverbank thickets.

"I was blown away and couldn’t believe how lucky I was to find such a rare sight out in the wild.

"The mother leopard casually strolled along in the open dry riverbed while her two very playful cubs were running around playing. The mother leopard eventually went to lie down and allowed her cubs some free playtime.

"The two cute leopard cubs were jumping and bouncing around on top of each other, having the time of their lives. Eventually, when playtime was over, the leopardess and her cubs continued with their journey and quickly disappeared down the riverbed again.

"I felt incredibly fortunate to have had such adorable and precious moments alone with these beautiful big cats out in the African wild."
