Playful baby elephant charges safari vehicle with trumpet sound

Buy video

During an early afternoon safari in the Kruger National Park, we came across a small herd of elephants standing alongside the road. While most of the adult elephants were feeding in the bushes along the road, the youngsters seemed to enjoy the open road, which made the perfect playground for their playtime fun. The were three very lively and playful baby elephants in front of us. Their playful nature and behavior made for entertaining viewing, pushing and shoving each other around. Then suddenly, the smallest baby elephant of the three comes charging towards our safari vehicle, attempting to scare us with its dominance display that consisted of a mock charge and a trumpet sound. The baby elephant clearly wanted to show to all its friends that it can scare off a safari vehicle, being all scary and dominant, just like the adults. This was hilarious to watch, even more so when the baby elephant suddenly realized the safari vehicle wasn’t going anywhere and started running after its mother. We left the elephant sighting with smiles and laughter. As always, baby elephants once again delivered a safari classic.
