Officials of the fire services jumped in to rescue the people who were trapped amidst severe floods triggered by Cyclone Michaung in southern India's Tamil Nadu.

This happened in Kumaran Nagar, Red Hills, Chennai at 10 am on December 5.

Visuals showed the rescue operation being carried out by the fire officials. A raft was used to take those rescued to safer shores. The whole area was severely flooded as a result of heavy rainfall triggered by the cyclone which wreaked havoc all across the state capital. The water had risen even to the chest-level with the officials seen wading their way through to take the people rescued, to safety. Among those rescued also included a pet dog. Heavy rainfall battered Chennai for a number of days which caused floods in several areas of the city. A total of 17 people died in different incidents as a result of the cyclone. Many areas were badly inundated and had to go without electricity for quite some time.
