Indian army officials establish contact with village isolated due to heavy flood in southern India
Officers of the Indian Army established contact with Adichanallur village which had been isolated due to heavy floods in southern India's Tamil Nadu.
This place is located in Thoothukudi district of the state and this happened on December 20.
Visuals showed army officials making their way into the heavily-flooded area, connection to where was completely cut off. The roads were inundated but the determined army officials braved the harsh conditions and were able to reach the village, three days after it had been completely isolated from the other parts of the area. They were then seen carrying away the stranded people, which also included the elderly, and putting them in a vehicle. The army officers also were seen rescuing these people and taking them to safety on a lifeboat through the flooded region.
A report also states that EV Velu, Tamil Nadu's Highway Minister also visited Karungulam, a village in Tuticorin district of the state where he requested Major Arnab Roy, the Army Column Commander to find out more routes through which four more villages could be reached.
Tamil Nadu, especially the southern part of the state, has been ravaged by floods due to heavy rainfall. This has disrupted the lives of several people across multiple districts and rescue officials are at work in saving them and providing relief materials.
