Informal houses destroyed, private estate evacuated as mountain fire rages on for fourth day
An informal settlement along the glencairn expressway has seen homes destroyed and residents of a neighbouring private estate were evacuated as a fire burned close to the boundary fence of the estate.
Hundreds of fire fighters and volunteers braved heavy winds as a bushfire spread. the fire which started on Monday is now in its fourth day.
Smoke filled the night sky whilst the city of cape ton officials sent out a request for residents to remain indoors whilst others were asked to evacuate.
Melissa and her husband who live in an informal settlement called Black hill had all their belongings on a old shopping trolley as the escaped the fire.
