South African politicians had mixed reactions moments before the much anticipated meeting between the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa and American President Donald Trump. In recent months South Africa has been criticised by the American administration because of its Land Policy and cut all aid to the region.

The Mkhonto we Sizwe party Finance and Appropriations representative, Brian Molefe called the meeting a Jamboree of billionaires whilst the Democratic alliance spokesperson Willie Aucamp affirmed the non existence of a genocide in South Africa. Something Presidents Trump's office has been criticising and went as far as allowing white refugees from South Africa to come into America.

The South African Finance Minister Enoch Gondongwana hailed the US as one of the leading and emphasised the importance of cementing the relationship.
