This 60-year-old cinema house in Bangkok is still operating despite the waning popularity of standalone theatres.

The Phahon Theatre sits near the Saphan Khwai BTS Station in Bangkok, where it screens a variety of Thai, western, and Chinese films every day for only 100 THB (2.8 USD).

Originally known as the Phaholyothin Rama Theater, the movie house first opened in 1966 and has remained in business even as chain theatres in malls flourished and took over.

Inside the aging walls of the legacy theatre is a snack and beverage counter, and a screening area where the movies are shown in rotation.

However, unable to compete with mall cinemas that have modern equipment and money to pay for mainstream film copyright fees, the Phahon Theatre is said to have become a venue for 'shady gray businesses' where patrons can pay to engage in casual sex.

The theatre operates from 11:40 am to 9:20 pm on weekdays, and from 10:20 am to 9:20 pm on weekends.
