This is the dramatic moment a woman rushed home from work after seeing her pet dog stuck in a food jar on a surveillance camera.

The owner was on her break at the office when she checked the home camera feed - only to discover Dundun, her Samoyed, struggling to remove the container on its head in Zhejiang, China.

CCTV footage shows the hapless white pooch pawing desperately at the canister on October 21.

The dog can be seen falling off a wooden bench and lying on the floor as it tried to breathe. Upon seeing this, the frantic owner immediately asked for leave and drove for 30 minutes to reach home.

She can be seen gently pulling at the jar while Dundun sat inside its cage.

Moments later, she used a pair of scissors to cut through the container and eventually freed her pet.

She said: 'I didn't know how long it had been stuck, she was running around like a headless fly, bumping into everything, and it looked like the bucket was getting tighter and tighter.

'I immediately asked my boss for leave and rushed home. Just as I was almost there, my partner checked the camera and called to say: ‘Dundun's not moving anymore. When you get here, don't bother parking, just run upstairs.' The moment I heard that, tears started falling down my face. The lift took forever, every second felt like torture.

'When I opened the door, I heard the cage rattling loudly. I ran in and saw her lying stiff on the ground, the bucket was so hot from her breath!

'My hands were shaking from panic. I tried to pull the bucket off, but it wouldn't budge. I quickly grabbed a pair of scissors to poke some air holes, then, just as my partner advised, used a knife to cut it open. The moment I did, she started gasping for air, her whole body trembling - that was when I finally felt she had come back to life.'

The woman later took Dundun to the vet for an X-ray and full check-up. The doctor confirmed that the dog's trachea and bones were not injured.
