Farmers in Hanoi, Vietnam, are growing unique-shaped grapefruit ahead of the Lunar New Year which takes place on February 10.

The bar-shaped fruits each have the words "tai" and "loc" engraved into them, meaning luck and prosperity.

The fruits will be displayed in homes and are believed to bring luck to the homeowners.

According to the farmer, to shape the grapefruit into gold bars, they use a plastic mold inserted when the grapefruit is still small. After growing, the grapefruit will be shaped in the shape of a gold bar with the words "Tai" and "Loc" written on it. This is a symbol of luck and wishes for money at the beginning of the year. The grapefruits will be displayed in the house to hopefully bring luck to the homeowner.
The farmer said the grapefruits will be given special care and monitored every day to avoid damage and create beautiful shapes.
Grapefruits cost 20USD, 10 times more than normal grapefruits.
