This is the amusing moment two ducks crept past a pet dog - then ran when they were safely clear of danger.

The pair of birds - the white one called Kai Wan and its black friend Bua Loi - aimed for the other end of the yard but the pooch named Kanun blocked their path while he was resting in front of the home in Chiang Mai, Thailand on October 18.

Cleverly, they waited beside a steel bench for a moment when the canine was distracted and advanced undetected.

Footage shows the ducks biding their time as they crouched near the furniture. Fortunately, a sparrow flew by and attracted the attention of the dog.

At the same moment as Kanun lifted its head, turned around, and scratched its tail, Kai Wan and Bua Loi waddled silently behind the dog and then ran down a small alley.

Pet owner Chayani Piyalangka said: 'If I didn't set up a camera, I would never have known how smart our ducks were.'
