Prison guards seized weapons from a prison in Panama City, Pacora, on January 25.

Authorities confiscated two firearms, 86 'edged' weapons, 71 cell phones, nine cartons of cigarettes, 12 fighting roosters, cash, and other prohibited items from inmates during 'Operation Armageddon VII' at La Joya Penitentiary.

The search also revealed a concealed cache, including more cell phones hidden within furniture, exposing a sophisticated attempt to smuggle illicit items.

To counteract these breaches, officials are set to reinforce security measures and conduct regular, thorough inspections.

They said the objective is to deter illicit activities within penitentiary walls, safeguarding the integrity of the facilities and the well-being of the inmates and staff.
