IDF Soldiers Conduct Heroic Rescue Operations to Save Lives
This footage was filmed and produced 31 January 2024.
Every day, the brave soldiers of the IDF risk their lives to save their comrades on the battlefield. Rescue operations under fire, both from the air and the ground, are conducted in complex terrain conditions. Two key units, Unit 669 and Unit 5515, work together seamlessly to ensure the successful evacuation and treatment of injured soldiers.
The Israeli Air Force's operations room plays a vital role in these operations, responsible for dispatching helicopters for aerial evacuations when needed. At the same time, ground evacuation teams from Unit 5515 and Unit 669 are deployed to perform rescue operations. The coordination between these units is crucial, with the operations room providing air cover and maintaining constant communication with the ground evacuation forces throughout the mission.
To guarantee optimal treatment for each casualty, the IDF's Home Front Command Medical Center collaborates closely with the evacuation unit. Together, they evaluate operational considerations and coordinate with field personnel to determine suitable evacuation sites. This meticulous planning ensures that injured soldiers receive prompt medical attention, even in the most challenging circumstances.
A major component of the rescue chain is the deployment of dozens of teams from Unit 669, who work alongside ground forces in the field. Their immediate presence provides initial medical treatment to the injured, addressing critical needs on-site. Furthermore, mounted teams from Unit 5515, joined by their Unit 669 counterparts, remain on standby in various combat zones. Their readiness allows for swift responses to evacuation requests.
