This is the dramatic moment a bomb squad neutralises a 'live bomb' after a suspicious object was discovered aboard a city bus.

The object which reportedly appeared to be a dangerous explosive was found on a bus parked for two days at Ganeshpeth bus depot in Nagpur, in state of Maharashtra, India, on Wednesday, February 7.

According to reports, the suspicious object was discovered near the driver's seat.

An immediate bomb alert was declared, and a team of BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad) was called in to neutralise the 'threat'.

The surrounding area was immediately cordoned off, local media reported. The squad, along with canine units, carefully entered the bus and removed the object, which was taken for further inspection and disposal.

Dramatic footage shows a member of BDDS taking away the 'live bomb' in a police vehicle.

The Nagpur police said :'It appeared to be an explosive. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad later took it away for inspection.'

However, according to DCP Gorakh Bhamre, the object was later determined not to be a bomb but rather 'a fire extinguisher of Redmac company' that was kept inside a box-like structure.
