STORYLINE:

The Changbai Mountain in China's Jilin Province boasts some of the country's best ski resorts. 

Since the beginning of this year, the region has experienced a surge in tourist influx. The number of visitors to the western area of the Changbai Mountain scenic attraction has increased by nearly three times year-on-year.

"We only have artificial snow indoors back in my hometown. I'm very happy and excited to see natural snow outdoors. The quality of the snow here is completely different from that in my hometown. I feel very happy."

"Ice-and-snow tourism is not just limited to skiing, as many might have previously imagined. Tourists can do snow camping and hiking, and have fun in the snow entertainment park. Besides, people can try hot springs and local iron pot stews, and experience the warmth of hospitality in the northeastern part of China."

The opening of a high-speed rail line reaching the foot of the Changbai Mountain in 2021 also boosted local tourism.

"The number of tourists to Changbai Mountain has increased by about 50 percent compared with previous years. Most of them take high-speed trains to get here. Meanwhile, we have launched a free shuttle bus service at the Changbai Mountain railway station for tourists traveling here by high-speed train."
