A family surrounded a brand-new car with firecrackers and set them on fire to celebrate the purchase and bring good luck to the vehicle.

Recorded in a field in Sichuan, China, the footage captures four individuals preparing to light the firecrackers narrowly placed around the white vehicle, apparently a Haval F7SUV, on the afternoon of March 2.

The astonishing scene followed as a part of a traditional ritual, where individuals purchasing a new car partake in the custom of setting off firecrackers to celebrate the purchase.

Just moments into the clip, they can be seen running to the side as the firecrackers send a massive cloud of smoke billowing into the air.

Chinese media reported that the vehicle did not suffer any damage during the strange incident.
