Tragic collision sparks vehicle inferno causing 1 death and 37 injuries in northern China
On March 15, 2024, at 6:37 am local time, a catastrophic collision unfolded on the Jinghan Highway in Dongli District, Tianjin. A tour bus crashed into a stationary public bus due to mechanical issues, igniting a raging fire that engulfed both vehicles. Distressing footage captured the moment of impact, showing flames engulfing the buses and billowing thick black smoke into the air. The intense blaze left the vehicles charred husks.
Prompt response from authorities including the police, emergency services, firefighters, and medical teams swiftly arrived at the scene to initiate rescue and recovery efforts. The tragic incident claimed the life of one bus driver and left 37 passengers with minor injuries. Currently, all injured individuals are receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals, and their conditions are stable with no life-threatening injuries reported.
A spokesperson from the Dongli District Committee's Publicity Department revealed that the tour bus was carrying high school students from grades 10 and 11. Following the extinguishing of the fire, injured passengers were promptly transported to the nearest medical facilities for treatment. Investigations into the cause of the accident and subsequent measures are currently underway.
