K-9 Deputy Lauren Donaldson’s quick thinking saved the life of her partner, K-9 “Zeppelin,” after he unexpectedly jumped off the 528 Causeway. The incident occurred following a critical incident that resulted in a felony arrest on top of the causeway.

In a video published on March 21st, K-9 Deputy Lauren Donaldson can be seen holding onto “Zeppelin’s” lead tightly as he leaped over the bridge’s guard rail. Without hesitation, Lauren braced herself against the railing and managed to reach over the guard rail to pull “Zeppelin” back onto the bridge. Despite the weight difference between the 75-pound dog and Lauren’s 122-pound frame, she was able to act swiftly and save her partner from falling into the Indian River below.

“Zeppelin” and Lauren are both respected champions in the Space Coast K-9 Competition, where they have claimed the title of “Hardest Hitting K-9” for two consecutive years. Sheriff Wayne Ivey expressed his pride in Lauren’s actions and her dedication to protecting the community.

Although the scare caused by “Zeppelin’s” leap was significant, everyone involved is grateful that he emerged unharmed from the incident. Lauren’s fast actions and bravery have been commended by her colleagues and Sheriff Ivey, who noted that without her quick response, the outcome could have been much different.
