US: Helicopter Crew Saves Injured Biker in High-Stakes Operation in El Dorado County
El Dorado County, CA, USA - October 20, 2024
A dramatic rescue unfolded on the Chaparral Trail near Salmon Falls when a mountain biker, identified as Susan, crashed and suffered a fractured pelvis. The H-20 helicopter crew was dispatched and found her stranded on an elevated section of the trail, roughly two miles from the trailhead. With no safe landing spot available, the crew executed a challenging toe-in landing to reach the injured rider.
Assisted by two good Samaritans, Theresa Nielson and Keith Covello, along with Susan's friend, paramedics managed to relocate her to the helicopter. She was then airlifted to the Salmon Falls Bridge parking lot, where an awaiting ambulance took over. The heroic effort highlights the quick thinking and precision of the H-20 crew in a life-saving mission.
