A tiger found itself in an unexpected adventure after straying into a residential area in Uttar Pradesh's Newriya Khurd village, adjacent to the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, on March 28.

Local residents were taken aback when they stumbled upon the majestic animal sitting in a wheat field during their morning routines. Efforts to chase the tiger with a tractor only led to its retreat into a nearby thicket of bamboo near Jamuna Prasad's house.

As news of the tiger spread, a crowd of thousands gathered, prompting authorities to deploy two Deputy Superintendents of Police and officers from several police stations to manage the situation.

After an intense five-and-a-half-hour rescue operation, led by Manish Singh, the Deputy Director of PTR, the tiger was successfully tranquilized and transported into a cage with the help of a stretcher. PTR's veterinary officer, Dr. Daksh Gangwar, is currently evaluating the tiger's health.

Deputy Director Manish Singh stated that the tiger, estimated to be between 3.5 to 4 years old, was found dangerously close to populated areas. The rescued tiger will be relocated to a safe enclosure, with plans for its release to be determined by senior officials.

A tiger was rescued after being spotted straying in a residential area in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place in Newriya Khurd village, adjacent to Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, on March 28.

Visuals showed the tranquilized tiger being carried in a cage inside a vehicle, with a large crowd of locals seen present at the incident spot.

According to reports, some villagers headed to their fields for work around 7 in the morning. During this time, they noticed a tiger sitting in the wheat field. In a panic, the villagers attempted to chase the tiger with a tractor, causing it to pass through the fields and take refuge in a thicket of bamboo near Jamuna Prasad's house in the same village.

The news of the tiger's presence quickly spread, drawing a crowd of thousands of villagers to the area. Due to the noise and commotion, the tiger even attacked several people multiple times. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, two Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and officers from several police stations were deployed to the location where the tiger was sighted.

After around five and a half hours of relentless work the tiger was rescued. Following the acquisition of required permissions and resources from senior officials, Manish Singh, the Deputy Director of PTR, assumed control of the rescue operation. Once the strategy was devised, SDO Anjani Kumar Srivastava and Dr. Daksh Gangwar initiated the rescue operation at 8:25 am, concluding at 1:40 pm. After a demanding five-and-a-half-hour effort, the tiger was successfully transported into a cage with the aid of a stretcher. Presently, PTR's veterinary officer, Dr. Daksh Gangwar, is engaged in examining the tiger.

Providing further details on the incident, Manish Singh, Deputy Director of Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, mentioned that they received information about villagers chasing away the tiger. Upon arrival, the staff found the tiger seated in a bush near a house, dangerously close to the populated area. Consequently, immediate permission was sought for the rescue operation. Presently, the tiger has been successfully rescued and relocated to a safe enclosure. The rescued tiger is a male, estimated to be between 3.5 to 4 years old, and appears to be in good health based on initial assessment. Plans for the release of the tiger will be determined by senior officials in due course.
