STORYLINE:

A contest on promoting and protecting Beijing Central Axis was launched Sunday in Beijing.

Titled "2024 Competition for the Transmission and Promotion of Beijing Central Axis," the event aims for the inheritance of cultural heritages along the Beijing Central Axis.

Beijing Central Axis, the core structure of Beijing that runs 7.8 kilometers from south to north, is regarded as the backbone of the ancient capital. Most of the major old-city buildings of Beijing sit along this axis.

The contest welcomes the public from all walks of life, including international visitors, to submit their works that reflect their understanding of Beijing Central Axis.

Over the past three years, the competition has attracted over 400,000 direct participants from home and abroad.

Award-winning works from previous competitions, including photography, painting, and short videos, were presented for display.
