STORYLINE:

World-renowned mathematician Artur Avila was officially appointed as a visiting professor at Nankai University in China's Tianjin on Wednesday and gave a lecture on the same day.

Artur Avila has made significant contributions to dynamical systems theory and the development of Schrödinger operators. In 2014, he was awarded the Fields Medal, one of the highest honors a mathematician can receive.

Avila has maintained long-term exchanges with professors You Jiangong and Zhou Qi from the Chern Institute of Mathematics of Nankai University.
