STORYLINE:

The seventh International Symposium on Cultural Heritage Conservation by Digitization kicked off on Tuesday in Beijing.

The four-day symposium attracts over 300 representatives from 20 countries and regions.

European experts have been impressed by China's profound culture and its role in global cultural exchange.

Fulvio Rinaudo, president of CIPA and a professor at the Polytechnic University of Turin, said that China has played an important role in cultural exchange throughout the history of the world.

"China is always playing a fantastic role, I mean, an important role in all the history of the world. Being an Italian, I cannot forget Marco Polo who for the first time came here and learned a lot from here and brought (it back) to Europe. And after that, there was a continuous exchange. And the role of China, I think is fundamental in all the diffusion of culture."

Kostas Konstantinidis, CEO of PostScriptum, a renowned Greek digital heritage company, said that China and Greece have had good exchanges in the field of digital protection of cultural heritage.
