Minibus stuck on level crossing hit by train in Indonesia
This is the dramatic moment a car stuck on railway tracks was struck by an oncoming train.
The family of four had piled into the Suzuki but its ageing suspension had been pushed too low, causing it to get stuck on a makeshift dirt crossing in a field in East Java, Indonesia on Friday, April 12.
Shocked onlookers were afraid to push the car to safety in case they were hit by the locomotive thundering towards them in the village of Madiun.
But they recorded the passenger train striking the red people, sending it spinning onto the grass bank.
Police said the passengers were fine and managed to flee the vehicle shortly before the crash.
Senior Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Ridwan, Head of the Madiun Resort Police said: 'The car was hit by the Argo Semeru train. All four passengers are confirmed to be safe.'
Officers said the driver had asked his son to check there was no train approaching before they tried to cross the tracks. However, when the car became stuck it was approaching too fast for them to avoid.
The policeman added: 'The driver and passengers, who were one family, panicked when they saw the speeding train.
'They left the car in the middle of the tracks and then the accident occurred.'
