A mum in St Elizabeth, Missouri, discovered that her children had been feeding a wild snake quail and chicken eggs from their farm - and the serpent is now huge.

Footage shows the large serpent wriggling up a tree in the filmer's garden.

"We have this enormous but completely benign black snake that comes around our yard. It has been coming around for at least 4 years now," said the mother.

She added: "My young children put out quail and chicken eggs for it. They often place the eggs in the hole on the snake’s favourite tree.

"We hadn’t seen it for a while until I filmed this video the other day. And you can see how it has grown! Very healthy and happy black snake! We live on a very rural and remote farm/homestead in central Missouri."
