Food protesters targeted a supermarket in Paris, France.

Footage shows activists from Riposte Alimentare marching along Auchan supermarket while holding a banner and wearing orange and yellow vests.

They chanted against what they called ‘egregious profits amassed by major players in the retail industry.'

According to recent data, food inflation in France surged by over 11 per cent between August 2022 and July 2023, placing a significant burden on households already grappling with financial strain.

They said 'the choice of Auchan as the focal point of the demonstration was deliberate, serving as a symbolic representation of the broader issues plaguing the retail industry.'

They added that 'despite the rising costs of production faced by farmers, the profit margins of agri-food corporations have soared to unprecedented levels, reaching a staggering 48 per cent in the past year alone. '
