Stunning drone footage showcases world's tallest artificial waterfall on Chinese skyscraper
The world's tallest artificial waterfall cascades from a 121-metre-high skyscraper in southwestern China.
The impressive video was filmed in the city of Guiyang in Guizhou Province on May 5th.
The waterfall, originating from a height of over 100 metres, spans a width of about 10 metres and drops more than 20 stories.
This is the world's tallest artificial waterfall, with the building standing at 121 metres and the waterfall designed to be 108 metres high. The water used is recycled from underground sources, including rainwater and other channels. A storage and drainage system on the underground fourth floor supplies the water, which is pumped up by four large 185-kilowatt pumps, creating this urban waterfall spectacle.
The waterfall operates on a recycling system and is only turned on during major holidays and events, with scheduled openings once in the morning and once at noon, each lasting about 20 minutes. The operation costs approximately 800 yuan (£86.5) per hour in electricity.
The waterfall has become a popular attraction, delighting many residents and tourists. A spokesperson for the building explained that the primary purpose of the skyscraper, which houses an ultra-luxury hotel, is to attract guests, and the 100-metre waterfall is a significant draw.
The waterfall and its reservoir do not compromise the building's safety, as the water is collected and reused, ensuring no waste of water resources.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
