As temperatures soar above 45 degrees Celsius, Delhi is facing a severe water crisis. Plummeting Yamuna levels and power failures at treatment plants have slashed the city’s water supply, triggering political accusations amid the Lok Sabha elections.

The Capital depends on neighbouring states to meet around 90% of its drinking water demands. Delhi faces an acute water supply crisis in peak summer due to the depletion of water in river channels leading to annual disputes between Delhi and Haryana. Delhi has been alleging that Haryana released less quantity of water during the peak summer period.
